About Us

Financial planning and investment management is more than a business to us; it's a calling. Our mission is to personally help individuals and families achieve their financial objectives through the use of prudent, wise, and diligent investment management services. We want to be the financial "family practitioner" for our clients, helping them to stay financially healthy.

Our Approach

Our processes are designed to make sure that we understand our client’s goals and current situation prior to making recommendations or beginning to manage their investment portfolio. We strive to improve all aspects of their financial lives, so we seek to help them with retirement, education, and estate planning. We help them reduce fees, expenses, and taxes, and we help them acquire and grow assets. Our relationships are long term, and we receive a quarterly retainer fee from our clients for our services. As a result of this approach, there are no extra charges for planning or analysis services, and we do not sell any products or accept any sales commissions. Our clients can call us at any time to discuss any financial issue without any concern about extra charges or the possibility that we are going to "sell" them a product.

How are we different?

There are many different types of financial service firms today. Mowrey Investment Management may be different from many other firms in the following ways:

1)    Compensation - We are a "fee-only" firm (not fee-based or commission-based). This means our only source of compensation is the check that our client writes directly to us. We believe that this eliminates most potential sources of "conflict of interest."

2)    Education - We have received rigorous education and accreditation, and continue to receive education, on issues such as taxation, insurance, estate planning, and investments. Many people in the financial services field are primarily sales people.

3)    Breadth of services - We help our clients deal with all aspects of their financial lives. As a result, we can help our clients realize value in many different ways (e.g. reduce costs on mortgages, insurances, etc.). Despite what they say, most large financial service firms only focus on one or two areas.

4)    Focus on clients, not growth - We are committed to limiting the number of clients that we serve so that we can serve them well. When was the last time you heard a financial services firm say that? The fact is, given the complexity of the financial world and the uniqueness of our clients, nobody can proactively serve many clients well. I will never personally serve over 35 families, and probably will stop accepting new clients very soon.
